Andrew Tuttle grew up in Alexandra Hills, a quiet slice of rural life in Redlands, a city which lies 20km or so from Brisbane, on the East Coast of Australia. Or at least that was the plan. The reality proved to be somewhat different, the area changing quickly after his family's relocation there, resulting in his home being quickly absorbed by rapid urban sprawl, leaving him in a limbo between nature and suburbia.
Alexandra, Tuttle's fourth studio album, reflects the growth apparent in his three previous Room40 releases and commitment to developing a reputation in his home country of Australia in the time since his 2015 debut. Leaning upon the inspiration pulled from recent tour supports with contemporaries such as Steve Gunn, Ryley Walker and Calexico; Alexandra presents a true sonic landscape; a musical reflection of a rediscovered homeland. A magician of banjo and resonator guitar, Tuttle named the album after that Queensland street and suburb where he first created and fell in love with music. Alexandra is the sound of rediscovering one's environment, almost twenty years on, tracing it with an organic, expanding flow of energy.
The songs on Alexandra weave their way serenely and purposefully, tracing a gossamer path resembling the distinctive, scribble-like burrowing patterns left by moths on the scribbly gum trees which dot Tuttle's ambles through the Australian bushland backgrounding the suburban environment. Splashes of colour flutter through like rosellas in flight, with pedal steel, piano, strings and horns contributed by collaborators such as Chuck Johnson (Saariselka, VDSQ, Three Lobed, Scissor Tail), Tony Dupe (Saddleback), Sarah Spencer (Blank Realm), Gwenifer Raymond (Tompkins Square), Joel Saunders (Spirit Bunny) and Joe Saxby (These Guy).
As a child, Tuttle became obsessed with two things: cricket and playing guitar, however it was the latter of those two hobbies which eventually stuck, in spite of an initial indifference. Despite his eventual career path, that other childhood passion has stuck with him and there's nothing that Tuttle enjoys more than taking in a game of cricket at the Allan Border Field, a beautiful small ground about 3km from his house. "It's my happy place," he says, simply. "Absolutely picturesque, shaded grandstands and a grassy hill, great natural lighting. I think both music and cricket, in my mind, can be related on a linear level. Like how either a song or a cricket game can go for a short defined time or for an almost infinite time; with busy moments, reflective moments, meandering moments and resolution."
After finishing school around the turn of the century, Tuttle embraced a whole new world amid the DIY culture and venues of Brisbane, where issues with gentrification and noise complaints led to a lot of shows in alternative venues which boasted lineups that were often strikingly diverse and interesting. In late 2017, a fortuitous path of chance meetings, house-sitting and blissful spring days led Tuttle back to his childhood habitat, awakening an ardent awareness of place that was both intimately familiar and strangely new. This experience of psychogeography inspired Tuttle to delve into the soul of one little patch of the world.
Painting broad strokes of local colour amongst a deeply rooted spirit of place, Alexandra is a journey that tranquilises the restless mind. This expansive album cycles through a rediscovered environment, illuminating forgotten or overlooked landmarks, evoking the dreamy ritual of the "flâneur" (a romantic figure imagined by Charles Baudelaire and Walter Benjamin) who wanders the streets, with the sole purpose to wander.
The rambling road that led to Alexandra was paved with musical activities for Tuttle; he released his third, self-titled album on Someone Good/Room40 in 2018, toured with Steve Gunn, Calexico and Ryley Walker in Australia and Europe, and made a cameo performance with Matmos at Unsound Festival (from which the guitar tuning of Matmos's 'Sun On 5 At 152' provided the inspiration and a tip of the cap towards Alexandra's opener 'Sun at 5 in 4161'). Tuttle has previously toured with artists such as Julia Holter, Forest Swords, Daniel Bachman, Deradoorian, Blank Realm and HTRK.
Mixed by Chuck Johnson and mastered by Lawrence English (Room40), Alexandra was tracked externally at Brisbane's The Plutonium by engineer Aidan Hogg (Jaguar Jonze, Jeremy Neale, Hatchie), then edited and processed at Tuttle's studio in Brisbane and at his childhood home on Alexandra Circuit in Alexandra Hills. ]]>Room40Art into Life22772026-09-04T16:15:57+09:00shopTroupe Asnimer & JH Burch [LP]

Multi-instrumentalist and composer J.H. Burch gives new intensity to a neglected ethnographic and folklore reality: the rural Amazigh poets of the Ait Bouguemez valley of Morocco. His vision of cultural exchange led him to the vocal repertoire of the all-female Troupe Asnimer, whom for decades have been amongst the most important custodians of the various Amazigh oral art forms in the region. The Asnimer women recite in chorus songs written by numerous anonymous authors, some dating back centuries, making their tradition and a fluid and constantly evolving collective oeuvre. Each of the tribal forms has its own time and place, some like Tamawayt are poems of travel and lamentation, Timnadin of daily labour, others are sung as Sufi rites. From the Asia and the Pacific, J.H. Burch succeeds here through his knowledge of different sound traditions and a varied use of instrumentation (baglama, santur, tanpura, kamanche, organ, deyurey, electronics, percussion), and in becoming a conduit for Asnimer, frames the collaboration without distorting its ancestral and rural physiognomy. On the contrary, the songs of the Amazigh tribes of the Haut-Atlas are colored through afro-asiatic spiritual arrangements of meditative sensitivity. In 1979, Akio Suzuki recorded a performance, ’New Sense Of Hearing’, at the Nagoya American Centre. During the performance, Suzuki used voice, turntables, glass harmonica and his self-designed instrument the Analapos to create a series of improvised pieces that effectively charted out his sonic investigations for the proceeding decades.
In 1980 these recordings were issued by ALM records as Analapos, the first work made publicly available by Akio Suzuki.
For going on six decades now, Akio Suzuki has been responsible for creating amongst the most otherworldly, yet deeply affective sound works of his generation. As a musician, sculptor and sound artist, Suzuki’s work threads an important linkage between Eastern and Western sound art practices. His approaches, that focus primarily on intense states of listening, ’throwing and following’ and a relentless sense of open curiosity, have allowed him to continuously deepen his work.
Originally published in an edition of just 200 copies in 1980, Analapos has been out of print literally since its release. Clocking in an over an hour, the original pressing of the recordings to a single LP, presented some technical limitations.
This 40th anniversary edition of Analapos is entirely remastered and is published with a booklet that includes a long form interview with Akio Suzuki conducted by sound artist and collaborator Aki Onda, plus extensive photographic documentation of the development of the Analapos. FRANS ZWARTJES’ studio remains untouched since his passing in 2017. In early 2023, we returned to the studio and discovered a trunk of unlabelled 3/4 inch tapes, containing completely unheard music by ZWARTJES. These works, largely synthesiser-based improvisations for films either unmade or unfinished, were played and recorded by ZWARTJES between the late 1960s, through his most fertile filmmaking period in the 1970s, and continuing in to the early 1980s. Unlike his previous releases, these recordings have been transferred directly from the original source tapes, newly mastered and available to hear for the first time as a double LP release. A comprehensive new interview with TRIX ZWARTJES, the life-partner and collaborator of FRANS is included in a booklet accompanying every copy of the record.

GENET’s final literary work recounts the two years he spent in Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan. The cult bands' cult band: Trabant were formed in Hungary in 1980. The closest the group ever came to producing a record was in the form of a promotional 7” vinyl for a film in which the core members starred. At the centre of an anti-authoritarian—that is literally outlawed—underground music scene in Hungary, this film soundtrack represented an opportunity to distribute their music without acquiring the recording and distribution license demanded by the censorious Communist regime.
Trabant measured their own success through independence and fun, as a circle of artists recording a significant body of work with rudimentary recording equipment and instruments (much of which was purchased in a toy store), always behind closed doors. The band had an ever-changing line-up formed around co-founders Lukin Gábor, Méhes Marietta and János Vető, and latterly with Mihaly Vig (of Balaton; soundtrack composer for Béla Tarr). Trabant shared some of these recordings through a clandestine cassette tape network, but resisted releasing an album… until now.

Following the revelatory impact of their debut compilation, this second volume plunges deeper into the band's vast archive of clandestine recordings, unveiling another chapter of music that was never meant to see the light of day. Born from the anti-authoritarian underground of 1980s Hungary, Trabant existed in the spaces between official culture and outright resistance. The album captures Trabant at their most adventurous, weaving together elements of post-punk experimentation, minimal electronics, and folk traditions into something that defies easy categorization. These are songs born from necessity, created by artists who understood that the act of making music was itself a form of resistance. Each track carries the weight of its clandestine origins while revealing the universal power of music to transcend political boundaries.

Originally from Sicily but living in Basel, electronic composer Marco Papiro confirms his eccentric and multifaceted personality. The sound articulation of his analog synthesizers flows into in an artificial hyperrealism of great thematic and expressive variation. The tracks unfold between ascending cosmic moments, more ecstatic meditative tones, symphonic planetary floods, exotic afrodelic and psycho-andean drifts. Papiro synthesises and converts echoes of acoustic wind instruments (oboe, recorders, bamboo flute), while the percussion lives on its own pulsating reality. The influence of certain folk traditions, as well as contemporary music, also suggests the more acoustic flavor of an ethereal minimalism (for voice and psaltery), making his music a continuous open sea of visions. Sabiya means bright, shining, an oriental wind that suggests feminine power; Sabiha is therefore she who manifests beauty and grace. Shaheena is indicative of gentle and soft, while Shahira embodies and represents the essence of recognition and visibility. Absorbed in absolute state of contemplation, Wiese plays harp, tambura and harmonium in a very essential and circular minimal way, focusing on the stillness of their pure harmonics. The scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist James Yorkston and the english guitarist with a fluid fingerpicking touch, David A. Jaycock, already played together in the first formation of the experimental folk ensemble Big Eyes Family Players. Their encounter with Swedish saxophonist Lina Langendorf gives rise to a little gem of pure acoustic candour, perfectly balanced between chamber avant-garde and neo-folk. As on an endless autumn evening in front of a lake in Finland or Estonia, the trio's nordic soul creates atmospheres that recall hidden nostalgia. In a process of rarefied sound matter, elegiac paintings spring up, moments that flow slowly and silently in a tension that is always suspended and unresolved. Soft, crepuscular passages, at times sharp and cold guitar, but also the velvety breath of the nickelharpa, combine with a saxophone that still blows dramas of distant Norwegian fjords, but can also become more Mediterranean and arabesque. After his participation in a masterpiece such as Popol Vuh's Hosianna Mantra, in the early 1980s Klaus Wiese produced a series of seminal works in the field of ambient-drone and healing music. The first of these, Baraka, was released on tape by Acquamarin in 1981, and already contained all the aspects of his future research into the mysticism of sound. Wiese shares the path with other German explorers such as Hamel, Fricke, Micus or Deuter, but he focuses his attention on the most essential nature of sounds, on their acoustic purity, which is always infinite spiral, vortex of frequencies and cosmic bath. It takes only a few means (zither, tampoura, cybals, singing bowls) to reach the absolute through vibration. Like the archaic mood of a great universal harmony, the sound suggests a complete state of otherworldly meditation, an enveloping cloud of peace in the eternity of the present. Don't let the name mislead you! The enigmatic M. Zalla is one of the numerous aliases of the italian maestro Piero Umiliani who, during his period of fascination for psychedelic and electronic atmospheres, started to compose a good number of musical portraits dedicated, as the title reveals, to the problems of his time. We are at the beginning of '70 and italians are worried by mafia, terrorism and social conflicts: so it has sense that the music choosen to represent this anxious problems has a sperimental nature; dark and disturbing, a sort of unicum in the long and extremly productive Umiliani career. And if, in 2015, titlesas “Mondo in Crisi”, “Problemi Sociali”, “Azione Sindacale”and “Mafia Oggi” sounds still sadly actual, it's even more surprising find that the music of “Problemi d'Oggi” (Today Problems) is projected on the future, sounding still alien and uniques. The record presents a various styles: Pink Floyd atmospheres (or Braen's Machine if you prefer...) and compositions characterized by a wide use of drum machines and synthetizer (MOOG and Sinthy). We just have to listen to the opening track “Produzione” to give sense to the words of Sean Canty (Demdike Stare) that defines it the first techno/trance track of the history; but between the grooves of this vinyl it's easy to find intuitions that many other artist and musicians – from Residents to Aphex Twin and Four Tet – will be able to catch during their carrers. Giovanni Di Domenico has now achieved a personal and unmistakable style within contemporary minimalism. His music always expresses a state of concentration, of recollection and contemplation toward a focal node. Repetition is experienced as alchemical state, as truth contained in the small nuances of change, in a crescendo that never reaches a climax. The atmosphere is intuition and is made up of a few compositional touches. To compose is to make synthesis, to unearth purity, simplicity and exactness. This new work for solo piano is almost an imaginary novel...the notes seem to tell of deserted streets, lonely walks in the night or runs down stairs. In this sense the musician is the writer of silence and the fleeting moment. This album is both a musical and political document that tells the story of one of the most brutal massacres that took place in 1976 in a Palestinian refugee camp during the Lebanese Civil War. Pianist Gaetano Liguori, along with Giulio Stocchi and Demetrio Stratos (the legendary singer of the band Area), composed this album, a gut-wrenching blend of free jazz, poetry, and Mediterranean music. The first edition was released in 1978 and, after almost 50 years, unfortunately, nothing seems to have changed. If we call ourselves human, we cannot help but grieve for the suffering of the Palestinian people. This is the third edition of the album, and as with the previous releases, all proceeds will go to charity. This time, we have chosen to donate the funds to UNRWA. The explorer Walter Maioli makes his most amazing adventure, the journey to the center of the Earth. Retracing the exploits of the Platonic demiurge, he identifies in the cave the deepest meaning of myth. Primordial sounds, not shadows, are at the center of this magical path straddling geology and Paleolithic polyphony. The recordings between 1985 and 2002 capture the sonic imperceptibility of the great subterranean womb, investigate the secret dialogue between the trickling of pond waters and the faint percussive reverberation of stalactites and stalagtites. Rocky sediments are played as tubular organs, glockenspiels, xylophones or stone marimbas. Crystalline timbral variations and subtle microtonal passages recall the chimes of Tibetan gongs and bells, of the scales of Java and Bali. With this new work Maurizio Abate recovers the discourse started with Loneliness, Desire and Revenge (2016) but with a different narrative sensitivity. The symbolic air that you breathe suggests a personal and
universal experience in which thoughts and perceptions remain as enveloped in an eternal cosmic wheel. It’s a condition that flows sincerely into an emphatic introspection and identification between the stasis of an inner soul and the flowing vitality of stagnant aquatic landscapes. In this direction the music of Abate always condenses multiple ranges of different emotional spectra evoked by profound naturalistic references. The airy openings of the strings, the distant whispers of the harmonica, cascades of phrasings more calm or more torrential can lead into the magnificent climax of the Nostalgia. The string arrangement for violin and cello by Lucia Gasti introduces in a dimension of idyll, in elegiac passages of touching poetry almost of chamber music but at the same time wet by the pastoral and bucolic moods of autumn landscapes; they are paintings imbued with different flavors and colours that recall the light and the candor of the Venetian tonalisms or the moving paintings full of meaning of Tarkoski. In the darkest and saddest moments the open chords are like suspensions of unresolved questions and torments, but the cathartic finale with a free and minimalist piano prelude to possible future glares, almost to perceiving that even where there’s stasis the sun can still shine the hope for the new on the clearing of the pond. This 8 track acoustic guitar album is a big change for the experimental musician Maurizio Abate. In the ever-expanding constellation of transnational electroacoustic collaboration, Marja Ahti and Manja Ristić present Transference, a profound investigation into the movement and transformation of energy between distant practices and places, arriving August 8, 2025 via Erstwhile Records. Transference emerges as what the artists describe as "a dialogue of sonic gestures and traces of visits to places and the spirit that occupies them." This collaboration transcends geographical boundaries to create what they term "a map of subtle and drastic differences, a space where the contours of sound and silence merge, and where listening becomes a collaborative act of discovery and associative intuition."
Marja Ahti, the Finnish-born, Netherlands-based artist whose work has consistently pushed the boundaries of electroacoustic composition and field recording, contributes recordings, electronics, objects, piano, percussion, and bass harmonica to this cross-continental dialogue. Her approach to sound as both material and metaphor has established her as a crucial voice in contemporary experimental music, with previous releases demonstrating an acute sensitivity to the relationship between acoustic space and electronic manipulation.
Manja Ristić, the Serbian sound artist and composer whose practice spans installation, performance, and recorded work, adds her own recordings, electronics, objects, piano, violin, and cello to the collaborative matrix. Her work has long explored the intersection of field recording, electroacoustic processing, and the politics of place, making her an ideal collaborator for this investigation into sonic "transference."
The album's conceptual framework positions itself within what the artists call "the ongoing metamorphosis of the sounding world as we observe it." This philosophical approach suggests that Transference functions not merely as documentation but as active participation in the transformation of sonic materials across time and space. The work "suggests the movement, transformation and metabolization of energy between two practices," creating a feedback loop between distinct artistic approaches and geographical contexts. The production involves Taku Unami's mastering, whose work with artists like Taku Sugimoto and Manfred Werder brings a crucial understanding of silence and space to the project. after Frans de Waard reviewed a copy of my 30th anniversary release, he mentioned he had started making tape loops from some of the lock grooves—was I interest in a collaboration? I agreed, but when he sent me the files, the way he’d transformed / modified / permutated the source material—well beyond recognition—was to such a level that not only did I feel any further efforts by me would have been gilding the lily but, in fact, not of any concrete value, which puts us at this release as it sits.

Billy Childish has been recording and performing since the 1977 punk explosion. The Pop Rivets, Thee Milkshakes, The Headcoats and The Buff Medways are just a few musical outfits that Billy has been involved with. His day job is being an internationally exhibited artist and poet.
These demo recordings - originally conceived and executed in a scarce edition of 50 Lathe Cut LPs each during Billy's recent "Career In A Year" campaign, immediately sold out.
And in the fine tradition of Billy's releases, this run of 500 needed to be hand-stamped as well as hand-numbered in a limited edition.
Billy has also gone far into the woodshed and agreed to reproduce a NEW limited edition of his treasured "MAN WITH GUITAR" woodcut. Also setting a new precedent!
We love working with our musical heroes. Billy is one of them.

Since 1977 Billy Childish has released over 150 independent LP’s, published 5 novels and over 45 collections of poetry, but his main job is painting.
He has had solo and group exhibitions internationally including New York, London, Seoul and Berlin. He was included in British Art Show 5, which toured throughout four cities – Edinburgh, Southampton, Cardiff, and Birmingham, and in 2010 he was the subject of major concurrent survey exhibitions at the ICA in London and White Columns in New York. Notable solo exhibitions also include Lehmann Maupin in New York (2020) and Seoul (2020); neugerriemschneider, Berlin, Germany (2018); Villa Schöningen, Berlin, Germany (2017); Goss-Michael Foundation, Dallas, TX (2017); Rochester Art Gallery, Kent, United Kingdom (2016); Opelvillen Rüsselsheim, Frankfurt, Germany (2016). In 2011 he became Artist in Residence at the Chatham Historic Dockyard where he currently works.

This collection of rare black gospel from the Midwest—featuring church congregations, basement recordings sessions, family bands and children’s choirs—is drawn together by two threads. The first—hope—which holds fast and unchanging, even in the most trying of circumstances. The second—circumstance—the way these recordings fell into the hands of producer, Ramona Stout, in Chicago at the dawn of the Obama era, when she had just about lost hope in her American Dream.
Over the course of five years (2006-2011) of vinyl hustling in Chicago’s South and West Sides, these 45s came into Ramona’s hands, mixed up in milk-crates stacked with Northern Soul, water-damaged jazz and Hall and Oates LPs. Maryland's Max Ochs recorded two influential guitar pieces on a long out-of-print Takoma LP, 'Contemporary Guitar Spring '67', alongside tracks by John Fahey, Bukka White, Robbie Basho and Harry Taussig. 'Hooray For Another Day' contains exciting new instrumental works from this American Primitive master, including a new take on Fahey's arrangement of "In Christ There Is No East or West". The disc also contains several spoken word poems, one entitled "Phil", for Max's cousin, the late folk legend Phil Ochs. Max's tune "Imaginational Anthem" inspired the guitar compilation series of the same name on Tompkins Square. Tompkins Square label presents the 8th volume of Imaginational Anthem, the acclaimed series focusing on acoustic guitar, particularly in the American Primitive vein. Since 2005, the series has revived interest in old masters of the genre while also giving many folks their very first taste of artists like William Tyler, Steve Gunn, Cian Nugent or Daniel Bachman.
Volume 8, compiled by hardcore record collectors Michael Klausman (former used LP buyer for NYC's recently shuttered Other Music) and Brooks Rice, features some of the best and most obscure private press guitar records virtually no one has heard. In fact, so-called guitar soli expert, Tompkins Square owner Josh Rosenthal, had never heard of a single artist on the comp (except for Perry Lederman, whose track was Josh's sole contribution to the collection). Released as a short-run private press LP in 1965, 'Fate Is Only Once' has long been a coveted collectible among American Primitive guitar enthusiasts. The album presages the broader movement. Acoustic musicians were still largely stuck in a rigid "Folk" mindset in 1965, and there are just not that many other examples of the exploratory guitar sounds found on 'Fate' during this time period. Alternating between haunting originals and jaunty blues-based traditional numbers, this absurdly rare LP was reissued by Tompkins Square in 2006. Taussig's only other recorded works appear on the long out-of-print Takoma compilation 'Contemporary Guitar Spring '67' alongside John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Max Ochs and Bukka White. Taussig spent years as an educator, published instructional guitar books, and traveled extensively to photograph weird museums.

Searching In Grenoble: The 1978 Solo Piano Concert is a previously unissued recording of jazz icon Mal Waldron's mesmerizing performance at the "Five Days of Jazz" series in Grenoble, France on March 23, 1978.
Waldron was Billie Holiday’s final accompanist, played on classic sessions with John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and Jackie McLean among others, and recorded dozens of solo albums as a leader before his passing in 2002.
Originally produced by the legendary André Francís and transferred from the original Radio France tapes, this is the first official release of this music in cooperation with the Mal Waldron Estate and Ina (The Institut national de l'audiovisuel). The beautifully designed, deluxe 2-CD set includes photos by K. Abe, Brian McMillen and Raymond Ross; an extensive 24-page booklet with a heartfelt statement by Mal's daughter Mala Waldron, plus essays by producer/"Jazz Detective" Zev Feldman, journalist Adam Shatz and Ina's Pascal Rozat; and interviews with modern jazz piano luminaries Ran Blake and Matthew Shipp. Searching In Grenoble features classic Waldron originals such as "Soul Eyes" and "All Alone," and jazz standards "You Don't Know What Love Is," "It Could Happen to You" and "I Thought About You.”

La Festa delle Rane (literally the frog’s party) are one of the most singular outputs from the vibrant Italian underground community of the last couple of years. Innocent, at times flawed, full of candour and tenderness and just enough spice to make things take a grandiose detour into the eerie and unsettling.
“Il lago è il cielo del bosco e tutte le rane cantano in coro” originally released on tape for Ruego in 2022 and now remastered for vinyl by Matt Bordin was conceived by main songwriter Lucia Sole between 2020 and 2022. Her knack for off-kilter church melodies and yelping renditions of what apparently could be categorized as ‘feel-good’ tunes often wanders into obscurity sparked by flashes of lo-fi Spectorian pomp, campfire folk and ‘Smile’ era Wilson-isms. Recorded between Bologna, Napoli, Brussels, Benevento, and Colleverde di Leonessa, La Festa delle Rane’s sun-tinged psychedelia comes with an incredible bag of tricks: dream flashes of absurdity, pillowy melodies and kaleidoscopic lollipops that are bound to melt and stick as soon as you get close.
Joined by a collective of musicians that include Gianlorenzo Nardi (Lac Observation, Il Gran Diavolato, Rawarr), Simone del Deo and Francesco Esposito, Lucia Sole’s songs are laced with mystique and a raw organic sound that depends, for this chapter, on a rotating trunk of instruments (glockenspiel, flute, organ, clarinet, musical saw, melodica) where subtlety and spontaneity are often combined resulting in a bizarre and oddly functional marriage. You often get the impression that just the wind and the swaying of trees would be enough soundscape for them to create timeless melodies and woven patterns. The lyrics not only paint a bucolic setting or a nostalgic elegy but they wedge simple nuggets into the psyche, seeds of a forgotten world that still ring true in any outsider cosmos. Tempos flutter and pitch comes and goes carrying a melancholy pin-pointed across the recordings, a bewildering atmosphere permeating the 14-track collection.
Medieval folklore for the dawn of AM Radio or simply a zonked out semi-pagan collective that treads the fine line between the surreal and the pastoral. Innocence and mischief flow into a beautiful collection of celestial free-form children’s folk hymns.

The third Industrial Folklore Tapes release is constructed from live recordings of a performance tilted ‘Film as Fabric’ by Mary Stark, which examines relationships between textile practice and filmmaking. From 2012-2016, Mary’s studio practice and numerous performances took place in Rogue Artist Studios at Crusader Mill in Manchester, formerly a production site of machinery for the cotton industry and a garment works. The performance has been enriched by exploration of Lancashire’s industrial heritage and Mary’s family history, which includes workers in cotton mills and expert needlewomen.
The performance repeatedly involves sound in physical formats through optical sound, work song and recordings of weaving machinery on vinyl records, the amplified mechanisms of the film projector and sewing machine, and Mary’s voice. The performance highlights the now obsolete industrial practice of linear film editing and shows photochemical film as a sculptural reflective fabric, measured and worn on the body, cut with scissors and stitched on the sewing machine. Through the filmmaking technology of optical sound, fabric and stitch patterns are transformed into noise, referring to a lesser-known sonic world associated with textile production. Similarly, each track on Echography responds to a single field recording, a distinct sonic impulse which is absorbed, refracted and deconstructed through an arsenal of effects and software patches. Yet, the characteristics of the original recordings can be traced throughout and determine the sonic shape of the responses they provoke. As the source material is dismantled, augmented and recomposed, the music is sounding out latent structures and concealed meaning.
The result is a set of five distinct sonic topographies, sceneries of subtle difference, gradual changes, grainy textures and, occasionally, harsh contrasts.
In the cool dark of these spacious ambiences, Echography ponders time, intimacy, and mortality. Edition of 250. Deluxe edition + insert. For eighteen months, between 1984 and 1985, Patrick Lysaght played flute, strings, and percussion inside the Rainforest Birdhouse at the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His audience and collaborators: 150 birds of 42 species.
The result is one of the earliest and most radical documents of interspecies improvisation. Predating the current wave of sound ecology by decades, For The Birds sits comfortably alongside the biophonic research of Bernie Krause, the ornithological field recordings of Jean C. Roché, the Deep Listening practice of Pauline Oliveros, and the interspecies experiments of Jim Nollman. A missing link unearthed.
Lysaght didn't record the birds. He played with them. On Downstream, the talking drum establishes a backdrop while the birds take the lead. On Mourning Music, a threnody for his father, the birds seemed to be respectfully listening. On Light Sensitive, delicate percussion triggers avian response. Complex clouds of point notes build to rich density, following what the original notes call "the excitement of chance and the probability of experience."

Includes an 8-page booklet with lyrics in English and Arabic. Nancy Mounir’s debut album, Nozhet El Nofous, is a remarkable communion with ghosts. Moody, hypnotic, and sneakily catchy, the album - whose title means “Promenade of the Souls'' in Arabic - explores microtonality, non-metered rhythms, and bold vulnerability through a musical dialogue between Mounir’s own arrangements and the sounds of archival recordings of once-famed singers from Egypt at the turn of the 20th century. Adding her own ambient arrangements over voices haunted with passion and desire as she creates a sound that is warmly familiar but utterly new.
On the album, Mounir slips into the gaps left by the lost frequencies of the aging recordings, finding space for counterpoint and harmony in a traditional sound built on monophony. Elegant melodies unfold in measured gestures as Mounir - who plays most of the instruments herself -revels in the plaintive intonations and brash lyrics of the departed singers. With layers enmeshed together, it’s at times hard to pin down when the past ends and the present begins, but beneath it all is a liberating attitude of defiance that feels timeless.
Nozhet El Nofous is brilliant in the way it explores the techniques and perspectives of a more freewheeling time period in Arabic music, before Arabic maqam (modal systems) and other musical foundations were standardized by the Middle East’s cultural power brokers in the early 1930s. Belgian guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx lives in a world of sound. He interacts with his fellow musicians, deploying the most refined, delicate sort of interplay, as if collectively painting clouds for the ears. Diffuse harmonies, grainy textures, and rhythms that drift like fallen leaves offer a deeply meditative, gorgeously colored environment that the guitarist is helping to shape, but he’s also basking in the tones vibrating and shimmering around him. The music slows down time, forging an environment without boundaries that billows like smoke, constantly reshaping every fragile tone. It’s Machtelinckx’s sweet spot, but as much as he surrenders to the sonic ecosystem, he’s deftly aware of its subtle activity, rigorously participating in its real-time creation and development.
Back in 2019 he explained the motivation for his long-running, open-ended Porous Structures concept, saying, “We’re trying to achieve a state of being. It doesn’t have to go anywhere or have a direction.” At the time he was exploring the idea alongside reedist Joachim Badenhorst, fellow guitarist Bert Cools, and French percussionist Toma Gouband. Some of the music on the group’s 2019 Aspen Edities album was composed beforehand but even the fully improvised pieces featured Badenshort’s reeds and ghostly falsetto voice cutting through this dreamy sound world, nascent melodic strands that seemed to emanate from the collective resonance itself. Five years later Machtelinckx has remade the project, which continues to feature Gouband’s sui generis sonification of organic materials like stones and tree branches. The new quartet is rounded out with a pair of distinctive guitarists, long-time Belgian collaborator Frederik Leroux—Machtelinckx’s partner in the tender duo project Poor Isa—and the Berlin-based Norwegian Fredrik Rasten, a more recent creative partner with whom he also maintains a duo.
“What remains is the choice of acoustic and fragile sounds, comprehensible to the listener but with an undercurrent of tension and complexity,” says Machtelinckx. “What is new is the intertwining of acoustic guitars. The melodic voice is exchanged for yet another stringed instrument, resulting in a group sound in which individuals are barely distinguishable. The classical roles of an ensemble are abandoned: the three guitars weave a web in which the percussion moves freely. The quartet makes use of microtonality and plays a stubborn game of endless, subtle variations.” In some ways this assemblage furthers his earlier statement that the music doesn’t need to go anywhere, and indeed, on first blush the three pieces on this album appear to levitate. Still, when one digs deeper that claim isn’t entirely true. While the music doesn’t usually feature any traditional sense of propulsion, the performances definitely go somewhere.
Theoretically three acoustic guitars are indistinguishable from each other, but each musician has his own personality and style. The stacked guitars create a vertical sort of tension. Each player simultaneously adheres to a collective timbre, but within those limitations they can’t help but express a certain aesthetic essence. While I can’t identify who does what, there’s no missing the thrilling way individual aesthetics peek out in short, elegant flourishes; the humid harmonic churn giving way to poignant snatches of melody, only to dissipate as quickly as they formed. Machtelinckx’s decision to eschew a more conventional melodic voice gives Gouband greater freedom than with the previous line-up, which led to a change in the studio process. “I wanted all the details of the acoustic guitars, and at the same time I wanted Toma to be able to play full force,” Machtelinckx explains, so to preclude potential sound bleed and balance issues, the percussionist played in a separate room from the guitarists, with all of them listening to one another on headphones but without being able to see one other. Instead, the communication all came from listening. “The first Porous Structures album had some compositions of mine to steer the music in a specific direction. With this ensemble I did not feel the necessity to do this. We had a couple of conversations about different directions the music could go, and made some decisions before we started, but that's it.”
The sidelong opening piece “In my earliest memory I see trees'' is a marvel of deceptive stasis, where the music absolutely reflects “a state of being.” As the three guitars float on delicately intertwined arpeggios, single-note runs, and fleeting harmonic clusters, Gouband punctuates, prods, and caresses the action, sometimes inserting the sweet tintinnabulation of chiming cymbals, sometimes accentuating the drifty guitars with rustling friction, and sometimes pulling on the reins with a sudden stuttering tom-tom tattoo. The group does create something far more driving in “Falling forward becomes a walk,” which cleaves to the titular suggestion of gravity fomenting a kind of motion. Gouband is decidedly active and the guitarists toggle to three-way riff-oriented spontaneity—a kind of forceful walking in place. The quartet might not be moving from point to point, but it is sizing things up and pushing against edges. Tuning differences impart dizzying clouds of harmony on “Void of Narration,” the arrival of bowed guitar expanding the palette so that the slow motion entrance of Gouband on a quietly shimmering cymbal initially feels like a halo of the strings.
Astonishingly, this recording was the ensemble’s first ever performance together. “I feel that there can be something magical in a first meeting,” says Machtelinckx. “When you record a first meeting there is a sort of extreme focus and awareness of time, a gentle way of exploring each other and the music, a conscious doubt that I find very interesting.” It would be hard to disagree.

Blending Native American references into a body of sonority that draws on free improvisation, experimental electronic music, and spiritual jazz, Pygmy Unit’s “Signals From Earth” – originally self-released by the band in 1974 – forges a singular and almost entirely unknown path, and stands almost entirely on its own in the history of west coast American jazz.
First appearing on the San Francisco scene sometime during the early 1970s, almost nothing is know about the Pygmy Unit, a seven piece band steered by Darrel De Vore, who contributed flute, bass, percussion, piano, and vocals to the band’s lone LP, first appeared with percussionist Terry Wilson within the psychedelic folk rock band, The Charlatans, who belonged to the legendary Family Dog scene. Jim Pepper, a Native American tenor saxophonist known for being a member of the Mal Waldron Quartet, played with Charlie Haden, Don Cherry, and numerous others, and produced the cult favourite, “Pepper’s Pow Wow”, for Embryo Records in 1971. John Celona, who contributes parts on sax, synthesizer, and percussion, would later go on to be regarded as an electronic composer of some note. Of the remaining members, saxophonist Frank Albright, bassoonist Ron Grunn, and percussionist Marvin Kirkland, very little else is known. It seems this LP is more or less all they recorded.
While undeniably jazz – riding a remarkable line between avant-garde electronic music, spiritual jazz, and free improvisation – the band was very much a product of the diverse creative ferment that developed in their hometown of San Francisco during the 1960s. Embodying the raw spirit of DIY (many of the instruments used in the recordings were made by DeVore himself, self-described as an “itinerant flute-maker”) the ensemble channels references – via passages of chanting and percussion, as well as conceptual underpinnings – from Jim Pepper’s Native American roots, intuiting them with the soulfulness of spiritual jazz, wild moments of avant-gardism centred around synths and electronic effects, and explosions of wild free improvisation.

This record is evidence of that development, containing 12 performance pieces, at 12 separate times in different acoustical spaces with various combinations of musicians and instrumentation. First ever vinyl reissue of Jean-Yves Bosseur's visionary LP “Musiques Vertes”, recorded by the legendary French ornithologist and wildlife field recordist Jean-Claude Roché, originally issued by Atelier 82. Utilising handmade instruments constructed from plants and other natural materials, played by a collective of children and untrained musicians, its radically experimental sounds build a revelatory bridge between the avant-garde and ancient forms of folk.
Jean-Yves Bosseur is a relatively obscure figure in the history of the French avant-garde. A student of Henri Pousseur and Karlheinz Stockhausen, as well as a close associate of Knud Viktor, he belonged to the legendary collective Groupe d'Etude et Réalisation Musicale GERM, widely celebrated for their realization of Terry Riley's Keyboard Study 2, issued by BYG / Actuel in 1970.
The “Musiques Vertes” project began in South East France during the late 1970s, spearheaded by Christine Armengaud, who was investigating, via elderly people in the region, a long tradition of musical instruments made with organic materials and plants. With their help, she was able to construct 240 instruments, collected in her book “Musiques Vertes”, published in 1978 by Christine Bonneton éditeur, that had long been used for bird calls, dancing, toys of young shepherds and children, and much more, but had been lost to common usage following the First World War.
In 1980 the Direction de la Musique awarded the composer Jean-Yves Bosseur a grant to start a collective practice of music using the instrument constructed / reconstructed by Armengaud. Rather than working with professional musicians, he chose to use locals and children he encountered in Aix-en-Provence between 1981 and 1982. The Musiques Vertes album is the result of hours of practice and recording by these players, in each case, within the album 11 musical excursions, utilising a series of instructions or games set up by the composer in an attempt to create collective musical exchange, as well as a dialogic exchange between this practice and active listening within a natural environment.
While the acoustic practises that underscore Musiques Vertes display a deep resonance with those embarked upon by artists like Akio Suzuki, Toshiya Tsunoda, and Jeph Jerman, the structural resemblance, held deeply within utopian avant-garde principles, falls far closer to experimental electronic works that might have emerged from experimental electronic studios like Groupe de Recherches Musicales or EMS, or subtle object oriented efforts in free improvisation. Bubbling textures and atonalities, blended with sounds from the natural environment, intermingle with staggering birdsong-alike tonalities and rattling percussive passages, producing striking moments of abstraction that retain a remarkable sense of humanity and ease. Associated Sine Tone Services (ASTS) is a new conceptual collaboration between analog oscillator wielders Jeremy Young (Montreal, CAN), Nicolas Bernier (Montreal, CAN) and Rutger Zuydervelt (Schiedam, NL). This record was entirely generated using sine wave oscillators and an array of electronic filters, stacks, and processing.
Although this project initially started with a bouquet of material put forth by Young to start, each track would eventually coalesce around the vision and momentum of one of the members individually, creating pocket productions that make the album in full, a diverse compendium of creative approaches to analog sound design.
Eschewing the codes and lexicons of “library music” here—despite the tongue-in-cheek reference to a canonical analog tape audio box in the artwork and graphic design, and the cheeky name of the project itself—the trio opted rather for a pop-melodic approach, which elevates each artist’s creative voice and personality. This is music, over sound design, contrary to what listeners might expect from an album entirely built from sine waves and the analog fidelity of vintage studio tools.
Like navigating a strange dreamstate, the score feels moody and cinematic at times, flowing melodically and rhythmically in moments accompanied by velvety textures and dense timbres with tertiary twinkles and artifacts occasionally vying for the listener’s attention. Hilariously, this entire endeavor was actually drafted in a dream by Young in 2023, in which this exact trio was on stage in a dark underground club, all dressed in lab coats, adorned with their signal generators creating music together. The Hordijk community has members from all over the planet and it’s a bit like a secret society; many don’t know any of the other users. After extensively trawling social media, I was delighted to find so many captivating artists dedicating their life to the sound of electrons. Just like Rob had. Not all were willing to contribute, simply because the reason they owned a Hordijk instrument had to do with its sound and quirkiness. I am glad many others contributed. This compilation presents a much more comprehensive array of works using the Hordijk designs, ranging from the wild escapades of 5e7h to the contemplative work of Robert Coburn.
After the release of Volume 1, Rob Hordijk sadly passed away on September 6, 2022. Nevertheless, his legacy remains. This compilation is a tribute to the works of Dutch designer Rob Hordijk, who in the last two decades has created a unique and extraordinary range of electronic instruments. On numerous occasions he has shared his vast and fundamental knowledge to the scene and to some of us individually.
In conversation with Rob he always shares his deep understanding of the physics of sound, explaining how you can employ electronic circuits to produce not only the purest waves but most of all how they can work together as an organic musical instrument. Each instrument has been personally designed and produced by Rob, often resulting in a personal connection with the purchaser. Moldy Cushions was recorded from the summer of 2022 until spring 2023 at my new Clamorworks studio in San Pablo, California. Additional parts were recorded in Brasília, Brazil while working on the SESILab science museum and in Hyderabad, India while on tour with Seeded Plain. This is my first solo album since 2016's Bizarre Flight on Gertrude Tapes, with most of the time in-between focused on other collaborative projects.
The pieces on Moldy Cushions started as improvised sketches, with many of the structural elements developing during editing. A few of the instruments on this album were commissioned pieces that are now in the hands of artists whom I collaborated with. The buzzing drones on Neoprene Concourse are from an instrument that I was given by João Fernando Arrais Serodio out of Leme, Brazil.

フランスの女性コンポーザーClara de Asísと共演した美しい干渉持続音作[Repetition Of The Same Dream]にて、2020年8月にAnother Timbreよりデビューした女性フルート奏者のMara Winter。新興レーベルDiscreet Editionsよりリリースされた初のソロ名義音源[Rise, Follow]。個人名義となっていますがもう一人のプレイヤーJohanna Bartzとのフルートデュオ録音となっており、1時間を微妙な持続的変化で聞かせる、16世紀〜17世紀にかけて主にヨーロッパで行われていた器楽アンサンブル"コンソート"のスタイルを取り入れた美しい長編。[Repetition Of...]がハマった方ならこちらも必ずハマります。
Rise, follow is a dialogue of long tones played by two bass Renaissance flutes, featuring subtle but persistent changes over the duration of one hour. It is performed in one sitting without interruption.
The composition adopts the principle of instrumental ‘consort-style’ playing in Europe during the 16th century: a family of similarly pitched and constructed instruments performing polyphonic music together in a small ensemble. The transverse flute was often utilized in the Renaissance era as a type of consort instrument, since it was appreciated for its two-and-a-half octave range, its ability to blend into a group of instruments, and especially for its uncanny similarity to the timbre of the human voice and the articulation of spoken languages. In Rise, follow, the ‘consort’ approach is distilled into a study of complex harmonic interaction between two nearly identical, historically conceived bass flutes. In the absence of stylistic polyphonic language typical of the 16th century, the resonance generated between the two instruments is prioritized as a dialect in itself. The piece is structured by evenly spaced arrival points on so-called “pure” intervals which occur at specific time indications, only leaving the methods of movement between these essential intervals open to interpretation by the performers.
While Rise, follow attempts to create a gradient atmosphere for the listener, veiled beneath the wash of sound lies the substantial undertaking of physical endurance by both performers. Bartz and Winter cling to the sound of their instruments, quietly struggling beneath the weight of gigantic flutes, battling with fingers unintentionally locked in place, and occasionally singing notes as substitution for collapsing embouchures. All of these bodily limitations are at once incorporated into the performance of the piece, while simultaneously uplifting an overall sonic impression which is otherworldly. Music composed in resonance with Orlando di Lasso’s ‘Prophetiae Sibyllarum’ (ca 1555-60).
The Sibylline Prophecies are a 16th century collection of vocal motets that could be considered prophetic, because they open up the music of its time to chromaticism beyond diatonality, posing new challenges to tuning. On the other hand, the sung text is an unambiguous appropriation of ancient Greek Sibylline oracles, claiming these predicted the coming of Christ —a fictional revision of history that misses the revolutionary moment of prophecy, where an existing situation is broken open, made unstable, is destroyed even, and for a moment a desert looms in which every world, past or future, vanishes like a mirage. But, at the same time, here anything seems possible; it’s a challenge to start walking paths, instead of fixating on settlement and taking root.
As a kind of recuperation of this revolutionary moment I decided to read Lasso’s music the way an oracle might, adopting methods for divining earth, sky, fire, water, and using them for transforming the music in all different directions.

"Ever since I first played solo Bach on my violin, I've been fascinated by how changing colours of differently tuned harmonic intervals shape and transform the music. In my compositions I make music using intervals found amongst the natural harmonic partials, an approach sometimes called just or rational intonation (JI). These are sounds that can be accurately played by ear, by carefully listening to how very small differences of pitch create beating, resonance, fusion, and reinforce combination tones. These subtle psychoacoustic interactions are at the heart of experiencing harmony, which is what my work is about.
As I came to work this way, I was curious if the approach I use in my own compositions could also be applied to Bach in a strict way, by composing the fine shadings of intonation according to JI intervals. Over the past 25 years, I kept coming back to this work, but it was the ongoing collaboration with Sara Cubarsi, beginning with a first meeting in Cat Lamb's studio in Berlin a decade ago, that led me to write and us to record the realisation documented on this disc.
I have added a second violin part to Bach's solo violin sonatas, music that began as sustained harmonic drones on mostly open strings and harmonics, but which gradually evolved into a kind of personal take on harmonic counterpoint, and became a gentle conversation between my own music and Bach's, finding my way by ear. なんと完成までに4年以上の歳月を費やしたという気合の極上ボックス物件!!Andrew McKenzieとChris Watsonのデュオとして80年代初頭に結成、87年後半以降はAndrew McKenzieのソロプロジェクトとなる伝説的ユニットThe Hafler Trio。オリジナルは2005年に米Crippled Intellect ProductionsがLPフォーマットで出版した[If Take, Then Take: Tricks, Half-Tricks & Real Phenomena]。当店も当時オリジナルLPを入荷しましたが、どうやらそちらには諸問題があったらしく、長年「あるべき姿で世に送り出したい」と思っていた今回の版元Ballastが異常な程の豪華装丁で初復刻したのもの。台形の特殊な形状のボックスに、2枚のCDとDVD、そして大量のアートワーク・カードを封入、極めて繊細で静謐な響きを持つオリジナル音源を最高の形で作品化。追加のCDとDVDには幅広いアイデアを詰め込んだとの事。
After more than four years in the works, I am beyond elated to announce the release of ballastnvp067: The Hafler Trio: If Take, Then Take: Tricks, Half-Tricks & Real Phenomena (2 x CD, DVD, cards, and enamel pin in custom fabricated box). I originally released If Take, Then Take: Tricks, Half-Tricks & Real Phenomena in 2005 as a vinyl record, and it didn’t go off without a hitch or two. (In the end, I played almost every copy prior to sending it to a customer or distributor as a quality check against [maddeningly] inconsistent anomalies.)
My lingering itch: I want to do this release justice. And now, here we are. Certainly, there were challenges along the way—nothing worthwhile is ever without. Files got corrupted. Technology failed. Older, critical programs were inexplicably rejected by their longstanding operating system. Older, critical programs were subsequently rejected by a “newer” (relative) operating system. Experts were called in. Concerns and recommendations voiced. Experts tapped other experts when their equipment didn’t deliver.
Everyone is doing what they can, but, as you surely understand, there can be nothing guaranteed. However. There were also strokes of luck and good fortune sprinkled along the path and, most importantly, Andrew and I had a rapport healthy with levity underlying the entire process.
Without straying too far (or at all, to be honest) into an “all will be revealed” (because it very well may not, nor should it be—let’s continue being honest) trope, I will state this release contains everything I could have hoped for. Hearing the original recordings—which often lean extremely delicate and quiet—in this format is simply a joy, and the second CD and DVD each sweep through a breadth of ideas in ways for which I was not prepared. Post-apocalyptic landscapes are pictured in a number of major films that are now part of the collective unconscious. Terminator, The Road are clear influences for Andrew Keogh. His obstinate, close-up dive into the physicality of surviving, however...is its own thing. As if acknowledging that Eraserhead or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre have as much to tell us about it as Threads does.

From the foreword to the booklet:
In 2018 John Tilbury became reluctant to take on more concerts. He lives in Deal on the Kent coast, 80 miles from London, and doesn’t have a car, so, although he was still in demand as a performer, at the age of 82, he decided to end his performing career. When I heard this, I asked whether - if I came to him - he would still be happy to be recorded at home. He said yes, and from then until spring 2026 I travelled to Deal every 6 or 9 months to record John playing piano and clavichord in the lean-to extension at the back of the terrace house where he and his wife Janice live.
We recorded whatever John wanted to play at the time, and so assembled an unusual and varied collection of recordings ranging from pieces from Elizabethan songbooks to new compositions sent by old friends from Scratch Orchestra days. Sometimes, if John was tired or in pain, we didn’t record very much, and the visits became as much a social thing as a recording session - and it was always very enjoyable to talk with John and Janice about music and politics, and hear stories about John’s past and his many musical friends.
In early 2026 – around the time of his 90th birthday - John decided that if we carried on much longer, he’d no longer be able to do justice to the music he was playing, and that we should stop. The original idea – insofar as we had one - was to release a selection of what we’d recorded as an album, but once we started listening back to everything, John suggested that we also include some archive recordings, dating from as far back as the 1970’s. So began a process of discussion, whittling down the many things we could have included, until we agreed on the contents of the four CDs in this box set, which effectively marks the end of John’s recording career.
John Tilbury is a giant in the history of contemporary, improvised and experimental music, not just in the UK, but worldwide. It has been a privilege and a joy to work with him on this unique project.

石橋英子氏の2026年作が、まさかのドイツの老舗実験レーベルから登場!!MirrorやIn Camera、Christoph Heemannらの音源を手掛けて来たドイツのSome Fine Legacy。ここより2026年6月19日に発表された、石橋英子氏と1980年代から活動を続けるジャズ・ピアニスト南博氏の共作[Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing]。ビル・エヴァンスを思わせる繊細なタッチと印象派的な和声の拡張を用いスタンダード・ナンバーを探求する一方、アンビエントやエレクトロニクスによる実験も行う南氏。本作では石橋氏によるセンスの良いエディットが効いたピアノ主体のミュージックコンクレートを展開しています。ミックスはジム・オルーク氏が担当。
Between her elaborately conceptual Drag City singer-songwriter albums and celebrated soundtracks for Ryusuke Hamaguchi, in recent years Eiko Ishibashi has quietly self-released a significant body of solo and collaborative work on her Bandcamp page. At times resembling her solo live performances in their organic interweaving of instrumental, electronic, and concrete sounds, each of these less feted online releases offers a snapshot of the experiments always underway at Atelier Eiko. Some Fine Legacy is pleased to announce a vinyl edition of one of the most intriguing of these works, Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing, made in collaboration with Hiroshi Minami and first released in 2021.
Active since the 1980s, Hiroshi Minami is a key figure in the Tokyo jazz scene, as well as a respected memoirist. Devoted to the great standards, which he explores with an Evans-ish delicacy of touch and Impressionist harmonic extensions, he is equally at home working up variations on tunes by Ryuichi Sakomoto and The Beatles or experimenting with ambient electronics. A single note from his piano is the first thing we hear on Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing, the space left by its decay unexpectedly filled by a synth arpeggio that quickly fades away as the piano returns with a balladic chord sequence.
Like her frequent collaborator Jim O’Rourke, Ishibashi possesses the virtue of patience, recognising the beauty of lingering at length in a single musical environment. Throughout its 40-minute duration, Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing remains lost in this maze of obstructed and fragmented piano balladry. The musical surface is in one respect placid, but close listening reveals dynamics and processes that are deeply strange: the resonance of a chord dying away is frozen, expanding to become a cloud that suddenly makes way for the piano’s return; or the piano is looped into a ticking glitch or a time-stretched shudder, momentarily sinking under lapping waves, distant bells, and snatches of conversation. Ishibashi’s subtle vocals and synths colour the piano passages like views through distorted glass. The metaphor of cinéma pour l’oreille is perhaps overused in discussions of the musique concrète tradition, but here the visual associations are almost unavoidable: especially when Daisuke Ijichi joins on upright bass, it’s hard to shake the cinematic image of a smoky jazz bar—shown in a sequence, perhaps, that cuts repeatedly to the musicians’ and audience’s thoughts and dreams. Vala, Or The Four Zoas emerged during a period of intense creative activity for Capricorni Pneumatici, only a few weeks after the recording sessions of IX-TAB and in parallel with the development of Nibbas (both already reissued, together with Al-Azif and Witchcraft, by Eighth Tower Records). As in those works, the sonic core here relies on the FM synthesis of the DX7 and the CX5, instruments that would become central to the project’s timbral grammar. The album also preserves the same strict aesthetic found in the earlier releases: no external processing, no outboard gear, no effects; everything was recorded directly onto a Tascam Porta One cassette system, a choice that reinforces the intimate, direct, and deeply tactile nature of the work. Originally released on cassette in 1989, Vala now returns in a restored CD edition published by Eighth Tower Records in collaboration with SSS Production. The genesis of the album revolves around the exploration of timbres capable of autonomous evolution, such as the DX7’s bi-harmonic sound, whose layered harmonics unfold over time, creating suspended zones that become genuine narrative matrices. Within these evolving sound forms, the project finds its most dreamlike and meditative dimension, elements present since the beginning yet expanded here with greater breadth and intention. Alongside FM synthesis, the album incorporates field recordings, concrete sounds, acoustic fragments, and materials captured in the celebrated “Cave,” the place where the project’s earliest works were born. Tape overdubs, environmental interferences, and metallic percussion reappear as recurring elements, linking Vala to the previous chapters through an aesthetic continuity that remains one of Capricorni Pneumatici’s most recognizable signatures. Other moments, built entirely from environmental recordings processed through a Revox A77 used as a delay device, move toward a sparse, essential, almost ascetic form of musique concrète. Die Sonne Satans (also known as Die Sonne Satan) is the musical creation of Paolo Beltrame. The name Die Sonne Satans is borrowed from the title of Georges Bernanos' novel "Sous le soleil de Satan," which Maurice Pialat adapted into the eponymous film in 1987. Die Sonne Satans is driven by the desire for self-determination in opposition to dogmas or conventions supported only by tradition, authority, or revelation. It remains one of the most creative and simultaneously obscure inspirations of the Italian electronic scene of the 1990s.
"Omega" is the third and final release of the project. It is partly composed of tracks specifically produced based on field recordings and tapes from various sources and partly from previous sessions that did not find a place in the original tape. A distinctive feature of the project has always been the elaboration of sounds from samples of everyday objects, decontextualizing their nature. This aspect makes the sound of Die Sonne Satans extremely contemporary.
This reissue, curated by Raffaele Pezzella, remastered by Maurizio Pustianaz and reworked by Beltrame himself, includes two tracks previously released on two very rare and hard-to-find tape compilations.
The track “Unconscious Spiral” was originally published on the compilation “New Aeon Symbols” (tape format, released by the German Abyss Records in 1993).

In 2003, as part of the seventh annual Empty Bottle Festival of Jazz & Improvised Music, Joe McPhee and Evan Parker squared off for a round of intimate dialogues. The resulting recording is just the second time they had played as a duet, the previous also being in Chicago, at a studio in 1998, where the limited their instrumentarium to tenor saxophones, resulting in the Okka Disc classic Chicago Tenor Duets. In this case, they expanded their arsenal to include tenor and soprano saxophones, as well as McPhee’s trusty pocket cornet. Held in a beautiful hall at the Chicago Cultural Center, the concert was unforgettable. Fortunately, it was documented by the legendary mobile recordist Malachi Ritscher, who recorded most of the Bottle Fests with his usual rough-and-ready style. From the opening notes, Sweet Nothings was notable for the musicians’ intuitive connection. Freely improvised in seven parts, these are duets of the highest caliber performed by two musicians who are constantly seeking common ground – what you might call “agree-to-agree” improvisors. The third part of Ideologic Organ Music’s trilogy of field recordings of sacred flute music from Papua New Guinea, recorded by Ragnar Johnson and Jessica Mayer in the 1970s. A book titled “A Papua New Guinea Journey” consisting of RagnarJohnson’s account of the circumstances behind the recordings will be published simultaneously with this music release.
“The recording of a male initiation ceremony with sacred flutes, bullroarers and ‘crying baby’ leaves was only possible after fifteen months residence during anthropological research. From the same Ommura villages in the Eastern Highlands there are bamboo jews harps, yam fertility flutes and singing. Nama (‘bird’) sacred flutes were recorded in a Gahuku Gama village in the town of Goroka. There are Mo-mo bamboo resonating tubes and singing from the Finisterre Range of Madang. From the Ramu Coast region of Madang there are: Waudang flutes, garamut slit gongs and singing from Manam Island, Maner flutes from Awar village and Siam and Guna flutes and garamuts from Nubia Sissimungum Village. These previously unreleased recordings were made in 1976 and 1979.”

This music comes from the Eastern Highlands and Madang provinces of Papua New Guinea. The recordings of the Ommura Iyavati male initiation ceremony, the different bamboo jews harps, yam fertility flutes and singing were the result of fifteen months residence for anthropological research 1975- 1976 and a one month return in 1979. The Iyavati male initiation ceremony with its spirit cries of bamboo transverse blown and water flutes, bullroarers and ‘crying baby’ leaves was recorded at night outside the men’s house with the sounds of instruction and singing from inside the men’s house audible in the background. Nama ‘bird’ transverse blown paired bamboo flutes were recorded in a Gahuku Gama village inside the town of Goroka in the Eastern Highlands. The Mo-mo resonating tubes and singing were recorded at Damaindeh Bau on the Markham Valley edge of the Finisterre Range. The other Madang recordings of long paired bamboo flutes and garamut wooden slit gongs come from the Ramu coast region. There are Waudang flutes, garamuts and singing from Manam Island, Maner flutes from Awar and Siam and Guna flutes and garamuts from Nubia Sissimungum.
The Ommura lived in the Yonura villages of Samura, Sonura and Moussouri which were next to the Obura Patrol Post and in the neigbouring villages of Kurunumbaira and Asara. The1975 Government Census listed a population of 1,140 inhabitants of whom 437 lived in Yonura. The Ommura, the collective name for the inhabitants of these villages, spoke a dialect classified as Southern Tairora. The Obura Patrol Post, established in 1965, was 32 miles from the town of Kainantu in the Dogara Census Division of the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. The altitude was 4,000 to 5,300 feet on the valley floors and up to 8,000 feet on the mountain ridges. The arrival of steel tools, traded along the Markham Valley, into what was previously a stone age technology, preceded the establishment of the patrol post by about fifteen years. The first government patrol to reach the Ommura area was in the early 1950s and the area was regularly patrolled by the 1960s. Inter-village warfare was endemic.
The Ommura were slash and burn cultivators growing sweet potatoes, yams, taro, bananas, sugar cane, various beans, pit-pit, maize, squashes and greens. Arabica coffee was introduced as a cash crop in the early 1970s and young men were sent as plantation labourers to New Ireland.
Every Ommura patri-lineage (okyera) had a mountain demarcating a traditional area of lineage residence and a mythical lineage ancestor (uri). Ommura social life revolved around the staging of various kinds of ceremonies. There were fertility ceremonies to promote the growth of yams, sweet potatoes and pigs. Major events in individuals lives were marked by the enactment of the life cycle ceremonies of birth, male or female initiation, marriage and death. All Ommura ceremonies involved payment of some kind varying in amount from large payments between lineage groups for life cycle ceremonies consisting of traditional valuables, earth oven cooked pig meat and food, and money to small payments of food.
The Ommura practised three types of curing ceremony; Ua-ha in which the illness was chased away by armed men, Vu-ha in which the afflicted were fed a mixture of pork and medicinal herbs and their illnesses were transferred into a device made of sugar cane and washed away by flowing water and Asochia where diviners chewed hallucinogenic tree bark (Galbulimima Belgraveana) to see the cause of the illness and then treat it.
The Ommura performed the following male and female initiations: Nihi Rara the piercing of the nasal septum for male and female children; Kam Karura performed in the women’s house for girls, Ummara and Iyavati performed in the men’s house for boys and the male and female pre-marriage ceremonies performed respectively in the men’s house and woman’s house.
These initiations were enacted to discipline youth into their respective male and female roles with bleeding the nose and beatings with taroah stinging nettles to promote heath. Male and female initiates were instructed to practice the same food taboos and were educated by means of gender specific secret stories and songs. Burlesque mimes of the opposite sex occurred in both and at the end the initiates were decorated in new clothes, ornaments and paint. A feast of pig meat and vegetables had to be given by the father at the end of an initiation ceremony together with a payment to the eldest mother’s brother for his participation.
Nose bleeding was performed to remove the dangerous accumulation of blood that became lodged inside the bridge of the nose at conception in the womb. To strengthen the penis young males had the urethra of the penis bled sometime between the final stage of male initiation and marriage. During the Iyavati initiation the male initiates were beaten with taroah stinging nettles, secret taroah songs were sung and exaggerated mimes of aggressive male sexual behaviour involving the use of taroah were enacted with much chanting of the male ’Wo-Wo’ war cry. Initiates were told what acts and foods were forbidden to them and given instructions regarding permissible sexual relations and their duties to assist their relatives and future wife. Iyavati initiates wore a pair of pigs tusks points upwards through a hole in the nasal septum.
Marriage was centred around the bride price which was given to the wife’s father by the husband, his paternal kin, mother’s brother and relatives. During the marriage ceremony, grooms were warned about the disastrous consequences of contact with female menstrual pollution and brides were warned not to poison a husband in this way.
Peace was made between enemy villages by an exchange of cooked pigs in a ceremony called Obu. A death compensation ‘head’ payment
in traditional valuables or a woman in marriage was the only act that eliminated the need for a payback killing in retribution for a death in war. Together with our host—composer/ ethnomusicologist Arturo Salinas—we attended El Dia de los muertos in Chalco to help inform our work. The beauty and depth of the ceremonies, ritual dancing and music honoring the dead touched me deeply as did the dancers we worked with in Monterrey. I am grateful for the experience that was shared with me so graciously by the Nahuatl-speaking families of Chalco and the dancers of Monterrey. Belgian guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx lives in a world of sound. He interacts with his fellow musicians, deploying the most refined, delicate sort of interplay, as if collectively painting clouds for the ears. Diffuse harmonies, grainy textures, and rhythms that drift like fallen leaves offer a deeply meditative, gorgeously colored environment that the guitarist is helping to shape, but he’s also basking in the tones vibrating and shimmering around him. The music slows down time, forging an environment without boundaries that billows like smoke, constantly reshaping every fragile tone. It’s Machtelinckx’s sweet spot, but as much as he surrenders to the sonic ecosystem, he’s deftly aware of its subtle activity, rigorously participating in its real-time creation and development.
Back in 2019 he explained the motivation for his long-running, open-ended Porous Structures concept, saying, “We’re trying to achieve a state of being. It doesn’t have to go anywhere or have a direction.” At the time he was exploring the idea alongside reedist Joachim Badenhorst, fellow guitarist Bert Cools, and French percussionist Toma Gouband. Some of the music on the group’s 2019 Aspen Edities album was composed beforehand but even the fully improvised pieces featured Badenshort’s reeds and ghostly falsetto voice cutting through this dreamy sound world, nascent melodic strands that seemed to emanate from the collective resonance itself. Five years later Machtelinckx has remade the project, which continues to feature Gouband’s sui generis sonification of organic materials like stones and tree branches. The new quartet is rounded out with a pair of distinctive guitarists, long-time Belgian collaborator Frederik Leroux—Machtelinckx’s partner in the tender duo project Poor Isa—and the Berlin-based Norwegian Fredrik Rasten, a more recent creative partner with whom he also maintains a duo.
“What remains is the choice of acoustic and fragile sounds, comprehensible to the listener but with an undercurrent of tension and complexity,” says Machtelinckx. “What is new is the intertwining of acoustic guitars. The melodic voice is exchanged for yet another stringed instrument, resulting in a group sound in which individuals are barely distinguishable. The classical roles of an ensemble are abandoned: the three guitars weave a web in which the percussion moves freely. The quartet makes use of microtonality and plays a stubborn game of endless, subtle variations.” In some ways this assemblage furthers his earlier statement that the music doesn’t need to go anywhere, and indeed, on first blush the three pieces on this album appear to levitate. Still, when one digs deeper that claim isn’t entirely true. While the music doesn’t usually feature any traditional sense of propulsion, the performances definitely go somewhere.
Theoretically three acoustic guitars are indistinguishable from each other, but each musician has his own personality and style. The stacked guitars create a vertical sort of tension. Each player simultaneously adheres to a collective timbre, but within those limitations they can’t help but express a certain aesthetic essence. While I can’t identify who does what, there’s no missing the thrilling way individual aesthetics peek out in short, elegant flourishes; the humid harmonic churn giving way to poignant snatches of melody, only to dissipate as quickly as they formed. Machtelinckx’s decision to eschew a more conventional melodic voice gives Gouband greater freedom than with the previous line-up, which led to a change in the studio process. “I wanted all the details of the acoustic guitars, and at the same time I wanted Toma to be able to play full force,” Machtelinckx explains, so to preclude potential sound bleed and balance issues, the percussionist played in a separate room from the guitarists, with all of them listening to one another on headphones but without being able to see one other. Instead, the communication all came from listening. “The first Porous Structures album had some compositions of mine to steer the music in a specific direction. With this ensemble I did not feel the necessity to do this. We had a couple of conversations about different directions the music could go, and made some decisions before we started, but that's it.”
The sidelong opening piece “In my earliest memory I see trees'' is a marvel of deceptive stasis, where the music absolutely reflects “a state of being.” As the three guitars float on delicately intertwined arpeggios, single-note runs, and fleeting harmonic clusters, Gouband punctuates, prods, and caresses the action, sometimes inserting the sweet tintinnabulation of chiming cymbals, sometimes accentuating the drifty guitars with rustling friction, and sometimes pulling on the reins with a sudden stuttering tom-tom tattoo. The group does create something far more driving in “Falling forward becomes a walk,” which cleaves to the titular suggestion of gravity fomenting a kind of motion. Gouband is decidedly active and the guitarists toggle to three-way riff-oriented spontaneity—a kind of forceful walking in place. The quartet might not be moving from point to point, but it is sizing things up and pushing against edges. Tuning differences impart dizzying clouds of harmony on “Void of Narration,” the arrival of bowed guitar expanding the palette so that the slow motion entrance of Gouband on a quietly shimmering cymbal initially feels like a halo of the strings.
Astonishingly, this recording was the ensemble’s first ever performance together. “I feel that there can be something magical in a first meeting,” says Machtelinckx. “When you record a first meeting there is a sort of extreme focus and awareness of time, a gentle way of exploring each other and the music, a conscious doubt that I find very interesting.” It would be hard to disagree.

The first pressing of the CD sold out within a couple of years. It was re-pressed in 2026 to coincide with the release of John Tilbury's 'At Home' box set. The re-pressing is a fundraiser for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a humanitarian charity working on the ground in Gaza and the West Bank to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the face of genocide.
We have set the minimum payment higher than usual (£15.00) as all income from sales will be passed on to MAP. Please give more if you can afford it.
The titles of the improvised tracks are the names of former Palestinian villages that were depopulated or destroyed in 1948 at the time of the establishment of the state of Israel.

Two live recordings by master improvisers John Tilbury (piano) and Eddie Prevost (percussion) playing two emotional sets that are quiet at just the right times and allow for a balanced amount of white space, creating beautiful music. "A new AMM album then, always a welcome arrival, capturing two relatively recent London performances from the duo of Eddie Prévost and John Tilbury. one of which I attended, and the other I could not. Both capture really rather wonderful sets of music, the first, from the As Alike as Trees festival in March 2011 being the finest AMM set I have caught live in many a year, though I am fortunate enough to have heard quite a few, though the second recording here, from the Purcell Room in November of the same year is also a lovely set. The last AMM album before this one, Uncovered Correspondence was also a very fine album, the best since the group's reduction to a duo, and these new recordings I think show how Prévost and Tilbury have developed a style to their playing that no longer seems to seek ways to fill the spaces left in the music, as their first performances as a duo seemed to do. These new recordings, while as intensely emotionally charged as ever, if not more than ever, allow a lot more white space and air into proceedings. There is a sense of clarity and precision here that when coupled by the virtually telepathic understanding these two have leads to quite stunningly beautiful music.
The first piece, titled here E1 AMM, a reference to the London postal code of the recording venue, opens with Tilbury crashing his forearm slowly, and repeatedly onto the keys of his piano for a good few minutes as Prévost adds subtle, softly bowed metal percussion, matching the violence with serenity and immediately casting the performance into a state of continually precarious balance. This opening salvo, when seen live left me breathless, and while the removal of the visual elements tones down the intensity of the occasion quite a bit, the passion in the performance, and the uncertainty that such an opening presented both the audience and the musicians with is still audible here. The second recording, SE1 AMM is an undulating, perhaps more familiar affair with quiet, often very quiet passages allowed to build into a series of crescendoes. The passages that close the recording, which was made at a concert put on as part of a Cornelius Cardew celebration, consisting of Tilbury mostly alone, playing slowly, with immense solemnity and beauty are really extraordinarily beautiful, with Prévost joining him right at the very end with some of the gentlest, most poignantly restrained sounds I have ever heard from him. The understanding, the ability to form such perfectly formed, expressive music in the moment together is, in my opinion, unrivalled between two musicians today.
Of course, the instrumentation is as you expect from AMM. Tilbury plays the piano, inside and outside, and Prévost bows and strikes metal objects of various sizes, some of them pressed into the head of a snare drum. With the exception of some unusual, agitated sounds from Prévost here and there on the first piece, there is nothing in the instrumentation or the sounds the duo pull from them that breaks new ground on a particularly cosmetic, obvious level. This sounds exactly like an AMM album, but there is a sense of continual development here, the ongoing conversation, stark discussions in places but held with a fluidity that AMM have not had for a while. Its as if a new language has been learnt, and so now the frank conversations can be more easily held, albeit it with less phrasing, but with precisely the right words chosen and nothing more.
It is easy to throw the usual rapturous applause at anything AMM do, but there isn't a more fully refined and explored musical relationship than Prévost and Tilbury's, and while I seek and desire newly broken ground in how music sounds or is made as much as anyone there is still room to admire and celebrate the way two masters at their particular art go about creating something this thoughtful and beautiful. "It is given to very few artists to have created a language entirely their own, but that is what AMM has done over the years, in various line-ups and configurations, with Eddie Prévost on drums as the only unifying element since 1965, and with John Tilbury on piano for the last two decades, here with just the two of them. You may like them or not, but they have made history, and they still do, with lots of young musicians moving into the broad avenue they created.
They were among the first artists to work with the endless sound possibilities of their instruments, like archeologists carefully unearthing new layers of sounds, and especially those that had never been there in the first place!
This album, subtitled Postcards from Jaslo was recorded at the concert hall of the Jasielski Dom Kultury (Jaslo Cultural Centre) in southern Poland on 15th May 2010, and the entire album resonates with the space that it was recorded in. The music remains fascinating, even more minimalist due to the limited instrumentation, yet equally evocative and expressive as their previous albums. And yes, the approach and the overall sound are predictable - this is AMM beyond any doubt - the preciousness, the sophistication, the inventiveness, the cautious discipline, the love for the sound itself, the incredible tension and sustained sense of anticipation... it is all there, beautifully there...
The absolute brilliance of this music is the attention given to detail. In most other kinds of music, there seems to be an absolute abundance of notes, spent and consumed carelessly, but here, with AMM every note seems and sounds incredibly valuable, as something that has to be used sparingly, in order to really be fully appreciated and savoured. Incidentally, the title of the album is the name of the venue (Spanski Borci in which the concert was recorded. All photos and audio recordings in this work are taken inside the ruins of former hotels. If one enters such a place, first of all the impression of demolition is overwhelming, while at the same time one finds a fascinating world between decay and renewal. The history of these ruins, with their former purpose of usage as well as the changes caused by time, give the place its own organic life cycle, with plants and animals living inside the ruins and debris.
Locals from the surrounding area are looking for usable raw and building materials. And the beaches are slowly filled up again with tourists from all over the world. Reminiscences of the heyday 1960s up to the 1980s arise when extensive hotel resorts were “le dernier cri” for millions of tourists to make their individual holiday dreams come true. Non-lieus, monofunctionally used areas resembling each other by interchangeability and absence of history. Massive holiday resorts as Heterotopoi as intended by Foucault.
However, a “non-lieu” for one person may be a place for another who identifies with and establishes a special relationship to it. In each of these buildings lots of people lived for only a few days or weeks – sometimes even years – just for the length of their stay. Many short episodes and stories started and ended here, and “Lieu” and “non-lieu” become shunning poles: a “lieu” never disappears completely, just as no absolute “non-lieu” exists.
What remains are the complicated dynamics of identity and relation, of space and time. Inspired by these impressions, both artists built their own virtual hotel composed from the rooms of several ruins. The viewer / auditor is taken through this fictive hotel as a tourist, becoming part of a vacant imaginative place that tells its very own story by means of visual and audible images. The sound of gigantic concrete structures, of the nearby sea, the presence of several, quite small appearing individuals develops an independent existence and give an idea of the former activity. The photographs depict the places where the sound-recordings took place. They are linked chronologically to the composition and by showing the same localities serially they also point out to the functionality of these resorts as places for mass tourism.
In the musical sense the single photo series correspond to the stanzas or sentences of the single subjects. Although parts of the original sound material were processed by FFT or granular synthesis, there is no sound in the whole work that isn’t strictly connected to the locality of the respective picture. In both cases of sound alienation the state of the original recording — the image of a space at a certain time — serves further compositional procedure: by means of FFT certain frequencies were identified and either deleted or boosted; through the application of granular synthesis, the recorded sound is stripped down into several small sonic particles. As places can change their appearance and their atmosphere by certain, sometimes more or less overlapping events, the character of sound can be deconstructed into different time scales, can be analysed and worked on. I saw Steve perform these pieces in Chicago in 2024 and immediately asked if he had an interest in releasing the material asa DVDR.
The audio, which sweeps seamlessly between field recordings, drones, and other electronic and electroacoustic elements is lovely, but the video elements accentuate and elevate the audio and provides a layer of densely personal and simultaneously opaque narrative to the performance.
When viewed sequentially, the archival home video, nature imagery and themes, medical processes, what may (or may not) be found footage from abandoned locations (think Priyapat), abstract geometric patterns, and Stan Brakhage-esque painted film cels create an overarching voyeuristic, eavesdropping puzzle of a narrative. Probably the single most startling new discovery was 12-minutes short [Copy Shop] by young Austrian director Virgil Widrich. The film consists of 18.000 photocopied frames, making it neither strictly live action nor animation, and the blurry black-and-white makes it look like a lost Murnau film.

The audience is taken to the center of the Earth and the enemy’s headquarters. On its surface, Fast Film tells a simple story. The catch is that all its scenes were taken from 300 different works produced in the course of film history. This tour de force through film history, from its silent beginnings to present- day Hollywood, lasts just 14 minutes: truly a fast film which could hardly be more furious.

The visual levels collide (physically), and dream and reality superimpose and dissolve: an audiovisual hall of mirrors in ragingly beautiful black-and-white.
