地理的な背景から様々な文化の影響を受けてきたベトナムの伝統音楽。その音楽は躍動感あふれ豊かな変奏曲を特徴とする。本作はホーチミンに住み自国の伝統音楽を継承、ベトナムの琴(ダン・トラン)のマスターとして知られるヌエン・ヴィン・バオ率いるアンサンブルによる録音。リュート奏者二人 + フィドルが加わったストリングス・カルテット編成の録音は非常に珍しく、ゆったりとしたテンポを保ちつつ洗練された旋律を奏でる楽曲集。





This music for string quartet, a selection of melodically refined chamber pieces full of highly subtle ornamentation, is a fine blend of different instrumental timbres and sonorities, performed with great poetry by musicians of the previous generation.

Having undergone numerous cultural influences linked to its geography, traditional Vietnamese music is a music of movement, an art of abundant variation where dynamism appears to be a permanent feature. Each composition is played from memory, and improvisation is one of the main forms of musical creation. When the melodic canvas is fixed in the memory, it is possible to perform extremely complex and daring variations.
