After Klanggalerie coaxed a sleeping dog out of the hut with "Extra Weapons / Double Dog Dare, Summer '84" by The Lo Yo Yo, ADN throws me the next sweet bone with the re-release of Look de Bouk's avec des coussins bleus (AD9 012, LP). Look De Bouk were even split partners with Alig Pearce, Mick Hobbs, Joey Stack & Caroline Brooks on AYAA's "Double Dog Dare" cassette and were also linked together again on the "Bad Alchemy Nr 17" live @ AKW compilation. Here slinging me Kwettap Ieuw & Denis Tagu on keyboards, Didier Pietton on sax and Etienne Himalaya on drums fling half my life at my feet: 'Rapide De Lorraine' - 'Guettez, nautiques! ' - 'Criollo' - 'Du jus de jouvencelle' - 'Pots cassés' - 'Grotte de briques - extracts / Androgine de poitrine' 'Un do l'enfant do' plus 'Dunoiserie' as a bonus, with J.-. F. Pauvros on guitar.

On cloud 7 as a blue cushion, quirky and surreal in the French way, there, live in Saint-Etienne and Besançon in 1987, they continued to saddle the Dada horse they had already ridden on 'Lacrimae Rerum' (AYAA, 1985). The earwormy waves and poppy potencies not unlike those of Pascal Comelade, with little cheese organs, xylophone, little drums, flute, accordion or melodica, cooing, screeching saxophone, creaking pulses, ringing tubular bells, clacking coconut hoofbeats, hmtata beat, tinny buck and saddle jumps strangely 'childlike', whimsical, even weird (avant la lettre). But in a touching, touching way. As made fun of folklore imaginaire, think of "Eskimo" by The Residents, of L'Ensemble Rayé or of DDAA, without wanting to diminish the originality of Look De Bouk's instinctive and dance-loving exotica. By the way, 'This side' and 'other side' are not what they claim to be (the labels are stuck the wrong way round), but 'En écrin de fer blanc pour le noir de tes cils, en général' in its 9 1⁄2 min. is definitely a stroke of genius that you can hardly get out of your ears, already on "Lacrimae Rerum" and also here.
