Californian noise artist Jon Borges is perhaps best known for his work as pedestrian Deposit, but under his alternate nom de plume, Emaciator, there's less of an ear bashing to be had. Instead, you're confronted by waves of dark intertwining drone, and it's presented in a far less refined format than most records of this ilk tend to be - but nor is this especially lo-fi. No excessive effects or shadowy filters here, just brash, misanthropic waves of electronics with an occasional smattering of guitar to break away from the machinery. It's in the constant detuning and slippery, mobilized dissonance that this record leaves its mark, inducing a troubling, almost sickly feeling. Coveting probably doesn't sound like a barrel of laughs, and frankly, it's really not, but it does carry a persuasive, emotional element that's not easy to come by in underground noise recordings.
