活版印刷のジャケットも美しい米Reading Groupの新タイトル！！Jurg Freyの楽曲などを演奏するヴァンデルヴァイザー楽派の強者アンサンブルOrdinary Affectsに所属、英Another Timbreやコンセプチュアル・レーベルSuppedaneumに音源を残す作曲家にしてヴァイオリン奏者のMorgan Evans-Weiler。同じくヴァンデルヴァイザー派にしてサウンドアーティストLuke Martinと共に作り上げた2022年の共同アルバム[Decadence]。それぞれが住んでいる地域の音風景を採取、それをサウンドマップ的に配置し絶妙な揺らぎの正弦波&宗教音楽とミックスした、凄まじい埋没感を与えてくれる78分間のサウンドスケープ。やはりこのレーベルの方向性は面白い。

Luke Martin and Morgan Evans-Weiler’s Decadence is an expansive, 78-minute landscape that steps in between the extensive and the intensive modes of listening. A personal audio map of, say, Boston (where Luke and Morgan both used to live) is tra(ns)versed by way of passively oscillating microtonal sine tone textures and brief encounters with 15th century Franco-Flemish composer of sacred music Johannes Ockeghem. Decadence converges on the interstitial space where the question of distinguishing between secular and religious modes of listening doesn’t seem to arise.
