LAFMSのRick Potts、Joseph Hammerとの共演録音も収録、これは絶対にお見逃しなく！！なんと11枚組ボックスというとてつもない物件が登場！！クルト・シュヴィッタースの"merz"、ロシア未来派のアレクセイ・クルチョーヌィフの"zaum"を結合したネーミングにて70年代後半にボルチモアにて発足、出版からパフォーマンス、また音楽活動までを行った芸術集団Merzaum Collective。この団体に絡み活動を共にしていた重要人物の超アウトサイダー作家tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCEことMichael Tolson。氏が1978年にロンドンで購入したという音響詩のレコード。その内容のあまりのつまらなさにガッカリし、そのレコードを破壊〜自分なりに再結合し新たな音源を制作。本作はそれをきっかに始まったという、氏の42年間に渡るサンプリング&コラージュ・プロジェクトを詰め込んだ激ヤバ&ブッ飛んだ音源だらけの11枚組アーカイヴボックス!!初期は留守番電話やテープ、レコード、ラジオを用いたDIYシステムを駆使し作品を制作、そして1993年に初めて中古で購入する事になるサンプラー/シーケンサーを導入しあの更に狂った世界観を創造としていくという流れに。本作には最初期78年録音から2020年3月という近年の音源までが時系列で収録されており、その変貌ぶりの面白さも堪能できるとてつもない集成です。

In 1978 I bought a Sound Poetry record in London & mailed it to myself in Baltimore where it arrived broken. Disappointed, & not wanting to waste it, I glued it together & rerecorded it as a "Reintegration". That might've been my 1st 'sampling' project. Being generally impoverished, I worked with whatever cheap or free equipment I had access to. That meant an 8-track cartridge player, an answering machine, tapes, records, radios, a borrowed SK-1, a friend's digital delay, homemade gear given to me by a friend that I cobbled together & named after said friend, etc.. Eventually I bought a used 8bit Mirage Sampler/Sequencer for $150 in 1993. That was already 'obsolete' by then but I got an enormous amount of use out of it. Seven years later a friend gave me an ASR-X Pro that'd he'd worked on designing &/or building. The potential of that was mind-boggling, 20 years later I've still barely scratched the surface, If there's anyone else out there who's produced a larger variety of such work than I have I don't know who they are. These 11 CDs could easily be 110 CDs without exhausting my aRCHIVAL material.
