当店激推しのUK実験アンサンブルによる激ヤバなオマージュ作品!!コーネリアス・カーデューの193ページに渡る図形楽譜大作 "論文" [Treatise]の全スコア録音、ジョン・ケージの[Branches]、[Cartridge music]、[龍安寺]、一柳慧のグラフィックスコア作[札幌]、リュック・フェラーリのテキスト楽譜作[Tautologos III]といった名作を素晴らしい形にて演奏して来た、Stuart Riddle率いるイギリスの激ヤバ集団Gerauschhersteller。2026年のリリースは、スタートレックとほぼ同時期の1969年に放送がスタートした、英国のストップモーション・アニメによる子供向けのSFシリーズ"クランガース"の楽曲のオマージュ。この作品に使用されたグラフィック・スコアの存在、そして作曲家のVernon Elliottがこの集団と同じ地元出身という事から始まったプロジェクトであり、単なる模倣では無く新解釈の電子音楽として提示。











In 1968, the Scottish diaspora finally reached the moon. In 1969, Star Trek and Clangers presented us with visions of a future which was moneyless, low growth and based on co-operation and mutual aid*. The impact of these events has never left us.

As a result, we have long wished to make music inspired by the Clangers. After we had recorded Treatise by Cornelius Cardew, we were intrigued on learning of the graphic scores used for Clangers, and the local connection of Vernon Elliott, the composer, bassoonist and one time member of the Bournemouth Municipal Orchestra.

The publication of Clangers: The Complete Scripts 1969-74 in 2022 finally allowed a more extensive view of some of the scores and cue sheets than had been possible before.

We knew from the start that we did not want to do a pastiche – Swanee whistles were banned. We soon realised that we could not produce alternative soundtracks from the partial publication of scores and cue sheets, but that the cues and score instructions gave a starting point or launch pad to try and reimagine those worlds and the sounds of the time.

The music on this disc is therefore a tribute or homage to the music of Clangers. We have arranged the pieces in the form of a journey – there and back again, reusing some of our alternative readings for the return trip. The music was recorded in real time at Horton and Charlbury Village Hall over the summer of 2025.

This release is an independent tribute inspired by the work of Oliver Postgate, Peter Firmin, Vernon Elliott and Smallfilms. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by their estates.

*George Lansbury, socialist, pacifist, MP and leader of the Poplar Rebellion, was Postgate’s grandfather – which to our mind further confirms this utopian reading of Clangers.
