Akio Suzuki, analapos, stones, wood pieces, nails, hammer, room echo, bottles, etc. Aki Onda, radios, walkmans, amps, tape echo, cymbals, bottles, etc. Initially a 3 hours long performance recorded on June 2013 in an abandoned space, in Brussels.
'Sound artist Akio Suzuki is well known as a pioneer of sound art, but the breadth of his activities and the form of his works far exceeds the normal boundaries of sound art. With partner Aki Onda, he performs on a wide range of unique instruments including specially selected stones, glass tubes based instrument and Analapos - an instrument he invented in the 1970s that creates echoes through the acoustic transmissions of a spiral cord stretched between two metal cylinders.
Experimental musician Aki Onda is an electronic musician, composer, and visual artist. He is particularly known for his Cassette Memories project - works compiled from a 'sound diary' of field-recordings collected by himself over a span of two decades. Aki's musical instrument of choice is the cassette Walkman. Not only does he capture field recordings with the Walkman, he also physically manipulates multiple Walkmans with electronics in his performances. This duo is unique not only because the 2 composers are from two generation of Japanese artists, living in two different cultures, but because they bring to light their similarities in the way to apprehend sound and live performances. Both are extremely benefitting from each others, Aki dealing with sounds provided by his eldest, and Akio being attracted in a world of nowadays technics for the manipulation of sounds.
The CD comes in oversized shape inserted in a kind of Zine with English and Japanese texts, photos by Eric Mattson and a drawing by Akio Suzuki.'
